Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina has helped over 9000 couples with the low-cost outpatient procedure. Although a majority of couples choose the procedure to have fertility restored there are now more and more women seeking relief from Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome.

Facebook, once thought as a social network for college students has grown faster than expected. This social networking site has become a place for friends and family to stay and touch. Those that belong to the tubal reversal group check in regularly to make sure all is well with their extended tubal reversal families.

Facebook is a great platform for those researching the procedure as well. The group page has videos and a message area as well as links to important information concerning the procedure. With social networking has come a way for couples to spread the news about just how well the procedure works to restore hope to those who thought they would never be able to have children again naturally.

Tubes Tied and Regret Having the Procedure

There are millions of women each year that have their tubes tied. Many are happy with the decision and their lives go on. But there are also a certain number of women that regret the decision of having their tubes tied or what is called a tubal ligation and want it repaired or reversed.

Why do women regret something that they had made the decision to do? There are a number of reasons but the two most well known are because they want to have another child and Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome.

Wanting to have another child after a tubal ligation is not unheard of. Many marriages end in divorce and many will remarry. Often, the new husband has no children of his own. And the wife wants to be able to have a child with him.

The next most common reason why women regret having their tubes tied is because they are suffering from what is known as Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome. Although not widely recognized in the medical field, it takes its toll on those that suffer with it. From mood swings to losing their hair to pain that is debilitating women seek relief.

Those that have tried to receive help when dealing with PTLS do find help but it is usually through tubal ligation reversal surgery. Many are angry that they were not warned of this before having the ligation.

For those regretting having a ligation and wanting another child there are choices available. The first that is usually offered as an option is IVF or in vitro fertilization. This procedure does work but the chances of it working on the first treatment are very slim. This procedure is usually very expensive and many cannot afford the multiple treatments it takes to gain a successful pregnancy.

The second option is tubal reversal surgery. Not only is this procedure less expensive it is much more natural. There are no drugs involved and the couple has a chance of conceiving each month. If the couple chooses to have another child after the first tubal reversal baby there are no need for any treatments.

The great thing about ligation reversal surgery is the fact that the pregnancy success rate is better than with the alternative treatment of IVF. The cost of surgery at the leading center is under $7000.00, proven less than one treatment of IVF.

When considering a reversal surgery, be sure to choose a surgeon that is experienced in this type of surgery. The experience of the doctor could make the difference in whether the woman is able to conceive or not. By locating a surgeon that performs just this type of surgery the chances of successful pregnancy are better.

Having your tubes tied does not mean that you will never be able to have a child again or that you will have to suffer with PTLS for the rest of your life.

Tubal Reversal and Coping With Miscarriage

After the long stretch of planning the tubal reversal surgery the time to begin trying to conceive has finally arrived. The couple is excited to begin the newest part of their journey and hopefully a positive pregnancy test will be in the near future.

The day arrives and the woman suspects she is pregnant. She performs the pregnancy test and she gets a positive result. The couple, like so many others, has become pregnant after tubal ligation reversal.

The woman announces her pregnancy and the couple cannot believe that their dream is now becoming a reality. Early Pregnancy Protocol is started and the pregnancy is followed very closely. As the numbers are coming in they are not doubling, as they should. Something is not right and the risk of ectopic pregnancy is always there.

The ultrasound is performed and nothing is seen in the fallopian tubes. This is a good sign. But a miscarriage is happening. The couple is heartbroken and must endure the pain that goes with the miscarriage. Often times they will reach out to their friends on the tubal reversal message board and get support to help make it through this heartbreaking time.

The question arises as to whether miscarriage happens more often after tubal ligation reversal. The answer is no. But, after tubal reversal and learning the body signals through each cycle of trying to conceive many use a pregnancy test much earlier than most women would. They are aware of many pregnancies before a period is even missed. Thus, more tubal reversal women know they are pregnant much earlier and know when they begin to bleed that they were in fact pregnant.

The risk of ectopic pregnancy is slightly higher after tubal reversal but not miscarriage. Many couples do question this and rightly so. Any couple that has been through this journey should question this.

Is miscarriage different because a couple has had a tubal reversal? It may be considering so much has been done to restore fertility. Does the emotional pain hurt more for the reversal couple? There is not a person that can answer what is in another’s heart. But pain it is.

Whether a couple conceives “normally” or whether with the help of tubal ligation reversal a miscarriage is still losing a child. The pain goes deep and only time can heal this. There are people who will say things to help lessen the pain and most times it doesn’t help.

The one biggest thing someone can say to someone who has miscarried is that they are there is they need someone to talk to. The pain is what it is and this something that every Mother that has a miscarriage has to face and work through.

The important thing to remember is that although couples may suffer miscarriages they go on to have healthy children. Dreams do come true.
